An Overview of Hierarchical Spatial Data Structures

چکیده

An overview, with an emphasis on recent results, is presented of the use of hierarchical spatial data structures such as the quadtree. They are based on the principle of recursive decomposition. The focus is on the representation of data used in image databases. There is a greater emphasis on region data (i.e., 2-dimensional shapes) and to a lesser extent on point, curvilinear, and 3-dimensional data. *The support of the National Science Foundation under Grant IRI-88-02457 is gratefully acknowledged.

Spatial Data Structures

An overview is presented of the use of spatial data structures in spatial databases. The focus is on hierarchical data structures, including a number of variants of quadtrees, which sort the data with respect to the space occupied by it. Such techniques are known as spatial indexing methods. Hierarchical data structures are based on the principle of recursive decomposition. They are attractive ...

An overview of scanning near-field optical microscopy in characterization of nano-materials

Scanning Near-Field Optical Microscopy (SNOM) is a member of scanning probe microscopes (SPMs) family which enables nanostructure investigation of the surfaces on a wide range of materials. In fact, SNOM combines the SPM technology to the optical microscopy and in this way provide a powerful tool to study nano-structures with very high spatial resolution. In this paper, a qualified overview of ...

Spectral-spatial classification of hyperspectral images by combining hierarchical and marker-based Minimum Spanning Forest algorithms

Many researches have demonstrated that the spatial information can play an important role in the classification of hyperspectral imagery. This study proposes a modified spectral–spatial classification approach for improving the spectral–spatial classification of hyperspectral images. In the proposed method ten spatial/texture features, using mean, standard deviation, contrast, homogeneity, corr...
